I’m blogging this from my phone as we’re currently camping in beautiful Devon. This is the view from the tent. Awesome!

We go away on our last family camping trip of the year this weekend. It will be too cold and dark too early very soon. We enjoy camping so much that I always feel incredibly sad on our last trip. I’m sad to pack away all my things for the winter and I’ll be especially sad this year to think I won’t see my beautiful tent until next season.

Camping at the weekend was great. It’s relaxing when we get to go off just the two of us. I love going with the children but when it’s just us two we are pitched and sorted in 10 minutes rather than 40. It’s nice to be able go to the pub if we feel like it and sleep a bit later than we usually would. It’s just good not to have to think about the children for a day :)
We had fabulous weather and the site was in a great location. The toilets and showers were really dirty though so we won’t be going again. We were pitched next to a very …um…amorous young couple. I think they may have thought their tent was more sound proof than it actually was. I bet they don’t even get one season out of that airbed, they were at it all the time. Three times by 1.30 pm ! We were jealous ha,ha
On the other side we had some seriously food obsessed mountain bikers. They had balsamic vinegar and olive bread for fucks sake! We had pot noodles and black tea because we’d forgotten the milk ^_^
so I made a little mosaic thinger but there are a couple more on my flickr stream.

Devon

We had the best time camping in Devon. The weather was beautiful and the campsite was pretty much perfect, well until w arrived with barky bark (Ruby). I didn’t take a lot of photies but I am getting better at just shooting for the sake of it. I lost the ability to take snapshots somewhere along the line. We had sea views from the tent and the beaches were gorgeous. The kids really enjoyed the body board and Lee is getting one for Clachtoll. You’d never get me in a wet suit or in the sea (shudder). Mal was such a good dog in comparison to Ruby that we kept forgetting we had him! every now and then he’d grumble to let us know he was still there. So all in all it was lovely and we’ll definately go back next year.

Baby I'm bored

30. April 2009 • Kategorie: Waffle • Kommentare: 2

so very bored.
I have had blood tests this morning and I’m off to the dentist this afternoon to have four crowns fitted ( it will cost a small fortune) all in all a pretty crap day! We’re off to the cinema tonight to watch X men origins-Wolverine and I’m hoping that will make everything OK.

Not much to report really. I’m still working on the giant granny square and I hope to have it finished by the time Lee & I go camping next weekend. We’re leaving the kids with my mum for a couple of nights so it’ll be just us. Think we’re going to go hiking on the Saturday followed by some tea and a few pints in the pub, then back to camp Selwood for scrabble, Good times^_^

Because I’m so bored I’ll share one of my favourite songs with you.

Granny squares

I’m obsessed with Granny squares. They are the perfect project for my addled little brain to tackle. I can’t seem to follow even the simplest of patterns due to my lack of concentration so these I can just churn out without even looking. They are a great way to use up all the bits in your stash and will make perfect camping blankets. The first one will be a giant granny square made from two lots of cotton I’ve had for ages. The second ones will be mismatched and thrown together. Granny squares rock.

Camping was great. We had beautiful weather all weekend and the campsite to ourselves. It was very cold at night which meant I had to wear a lot of layers. In this pic I’m wearing:
Berghaus coat
Bergahaus micro fleece
North face thick fleece
Tracksuit bottoms
Wool socks
2 t shirts
fake fur hat
scarf
and a towel wrapped around me.
I slept in all of these apart from the top coat !

Our new set up worked really well, especially the kitchen tent. The new Sumatra was great, I felt very posh.

Our next trip is in two weeks and I think it’ll just be me and lovely Lee. I can’t wait.

I was going to go to my local knit meet tonight but didn’t feel up to it. I’ve been more miserable than usual this past week and didn’t want to inflict others. That was nice of me I think.

I made another Tuva hat because I love the pattern and it knits up in a night. I used Sirdar eco wool for this and it’s lovely and warm. The colours are nice too. I look really bad in this pic but I hey ho .

I’m going to wear it next Saturday when we camp here. I hope its not to chilly. Little green will keep us warm I’m sure.

I’m knitting Glacier lake toe up socks and they are coming along nicely. Orange is my new favourite colour.

I’ve decided to list 10 things I would like to do this year. I’ve not made resolutions because I’ll only get all fed up when I brak them. 10 things to do is a more positive take on it I think.

  • 1. Improve my sock knitting to the point where I can knit any pattern without confusion.
  • 2. Lose all the weight I need to before the end of the year.
  • 3. Grow my skinhead to at least a short messy bob.
  • 4. Learn a new craft.
  • 5. Create a book of some of my work.
  • 6. Get better at web design and coding.
  • 7. Start & Complete my robot sleeve.
  • 8. Exercise at least 5 times per week.
  • 9. Make my home as beautiful and organised as benitas
  • 10. Learn to be happy with myself and my achievements.
  • Not sure what we’ve got planned for the weekend. There are loads of things we need to start/finish in the house but I’m thinking we should just curl up on the sofa and watch films.

Oh and I’ve bought this ^______^
